24 Days Lost in the Woods

I’m no stranger to daily challenges at this point - I really quite enjoy pushing myself to produce new content on a daily basis. It’s a fast and effective way to learn a new skill, and still considering myself a student, I love jumping into the deep end.

I decided to do an illustrated story with 24 illustrations in 28 days. Each new illustration would be a new day in the story, so I needed to make sure I communicated the story well enough in each illustration; that meant leaving out unimportant details and letting the viewer fill in the gaps, but also emphasizing the right plot points so that the audience could actually follow the story. This project also posed another challenge in that I did not start out very comfortable with backgrounds or environments. I very often would complete a character on a flat background, too intimidated to have them interact with anything. I decided that doing full illustration every day would really help me with this problem.

Here are all of my illustrations in order. Enjoy!
